Moon Rabbit was an unexpected internet discovery that captured hearts. Originally installed on a grassy field near a naval base, this large white rabbit sculpture appeared to be peacefully leaning against a hangar, lost in thought—daydreaming, weaving its own story about life and wonder. With the blue sky above and lush greenery around, it evoked a real-life Alice in Wonderland scene.
Tragically, on the morning of September 15, 2014, during its planned removal, a demolition truck malfunctioned and caught fire. The flames spread uncontrollably, engulfing the rabbit and transforming it from a whimsical symbol of innocence into a charred, blackened figure. The Moon Rabbit’s sudden destruction added a haunting layer to its narrative—once a dreamer in a surreal landscape, now a poignant reminder of impermanence.
